- Anthony Newsom currently serves as a Community Outreach Officer for the Dallas Police Department and is responsible for the development of the department’s Sex Offender Awareness and Internet Crimes Against Children Unit (ICAC) presentations and training blocks. In addition to all of his other duties, he is the Sex Offender Awareness Liaison between the Dallas Police Department, the Dallas Independent School District, and Dallas Police Department’s Youth Outreach Unit.
- Tony has been a member of the Dallas Police Department for tewnty years. In 1996 Tony was awarded the Meritorious Conduct Award as well as the Johnny Sides 1997 Rookie of The Year First Runner-Up Award for his services to the community. He also received the Shining Star Award twice during his tenure as a member of the department. In March of 2015, Tony was recognized as Officer of the Year by a community service organization known as Sons of The American Revolution. He is currently assigned to Dallas Police Department’s Sex Apprehension Program (SOAP), which enforces and maintains compliance of all sex offenders living within the City of Dallas.
Tony has extensive experience responding to a variety of cases including sexual assaults of children, indecency offenses, child pornography, and internet crimes against children. During his tenure with SOAP he has attended numerous advanced training classes, and is a Certified Police Instructor. He has conducted over 1400 training and outreach presentations to include the following: - Sex Offender Awareness

- Internet Gaming

- Description: This workshop will examine technology integration, which encourages social interaction and self-expression which creates opportunities for today’s youth. The presenter will discuss the challenges that school administrators and parents encounter in an attempt to keep their children healthy and safe while online. He will discuss online behavior of young men and women concerning such topics as it relates to sexting, online predators, video gaming and cyber-bullying. Tools and tips will be offered in order to assist the school administrator’s parents dealing with today’s youthful trends.

Bio: Dustin Conn is an innovative problem solver who uses his expertise in understanding behavioral science and his personal life experiences to create solutions to the challenges that are presented in the arena of school wide behaviors. Apart from being a husband and father, he serves on the board of directors for a nonprofit parent advocacy group servicing the entire state of Texas. This advocacy group helps to ensure the rights of parents in the educational process as their students excel and grow. Professionally, he worked in self-contained classrooms for students with neurological impairments and students with emotional disturbances for 13 years. In 2015, Dustin left the classroom to serve as a district behavioral specialist, serving both special and general education teachers and students. In 2017, he transitioned to the role of PBIS Coordinator in his district. In his current role, he is able to provide behavioral support to all students, parents, and administrators as he guides the campuses in the direction of restorative practices and the creation of positive and safe climates for all students.
